After exiting the sewers, Davos wanders, playing a merry tune. You return to Violet with seeing stone in hand. She is grateful for having her stone back and rewards you with a home cooked meal and agrees to a free fortune reading.
After your meal, Violet uses the seeing stone to see what she can. The room violently shakes, but almost everyone is able to hold their ground. Sadly, Violet’s reading did not amount to much, she saw flashes of King Humperdinck’s face, but that was about all. She allows you to spend the night to rest, but encourages you to visit the castle the next day to speak with king.
The next day, you depart for Castle Onancock. Reaching its gates proves quite easy, though it was a trek up through Tubbercurry, and the rich upperclass district of Nobber. You are greeted at the gate by a dwarf, Gary, who informs you that the King has been missing for 6 months, but does see that you have a certain, air about you so he grants you audience with Queen Velka.
Unfortunately, after entering the castle, Velka is nowhere to be found. Turns out she’s playing rogue again down in beggar’s corner. Gari, the queen’s assistant, tasks you with retrieving her. He describes her as having piercing green eyes, and prefers to go by “Estel”. You agree, of course, and head down to beggar’s corner. Despite being chock full of all kinds of nerdowells, Stratos is able to locate her and you follow her through the maze that is beggar’s corner.
While tracking Velka, you run into some common thieves. You spot her dip into a nearby row-house, but are distracted with fighting the jerks that distracted you. Emerging victorious, you head after Velka again…but the door to the house is locked. Stratos decides to fly in through an open window, and is quickly met with a very angry old housewife who shoos him out. Xennith does his best to knock down the door to the house, but fails miserably and falls into a pile of manure nearby.
That’s when you notice that Velka hasn’t been in the house for some time. You convince her to go back to the castle so you can speak in private. She agrees, but decides it’s best if she meet you there to not arouse suspicion, because you all stick out like a sore thumb.
Xennith takes a short jaunt through town to find a bath, but the rest of you head straight to the castle. Once there, you are greeted by Gari, who happily returns all of the small items that Velka nicked from you during your past visits to beggar’s corner.
You enter the throne room to find Velka dressed in her finest queenly robes and sitting on the throne. She greets you like a proper nobel and asks what she can assist with, since King Humperdinck is indisposed. You explain your story thus far, and ask for her help in figuring out what is going on with the weird weather that keeps occurring. She stands up, as she understands you are no mere tourists to their kingdom, and leads you into the garden.
Walking through the garden, you pass by all manner of beautiful statues until Velka stops at one, points up and says, “May I present, King Humperdinck.”
